Joint Statement by International Space Industry Associations on the EU Space Act

GraySpace Consulting coordinated a joint statement by international space industry associations representing operators and companies from Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, and the United States, in response to the European Commission’s draft EU Space Act.

The joint statement welcomes the Commission’s initiative and reflects the shared view that Europe’s space economy has long benefited from international cooperation, open markets, and cross-border partnerships, including meaningful participation by trusted third-country operators across the space value chain.

In this context, the statement highlights the importance of ensuring that the EU Space Act includes clear and workable pathways for recognising equivalent standards and certifications from trusted third countries, in order to support regulatory interoperability, reduce unnecessary duplication, and enable continued access to innovative and competitive space services.

The associations also emphasise the value of structured and ongoing dialogue between EU institutions and third-country industry bodies, particularly as the EU Space Act develops into a long-term framework shaping global space activities.
